From The Heart Of Jim Smith

x`

I have been an Elvis fan for thirty five years. Throughout my teenage years, I imitated Elvis, his mannerisms, his voice and the way he wore his hair. I had fun with Elvis and his music. A tour in the Marine Corps followed schooling, and in 1976, while I was performing with the musical ministry at my church, as a drummer, I stepped forward to sing "Elvis" for a variety show and "Memories from Memphis" was born. My goal is to give people of all ages the opportunity to experience the music and the energy of Elvis. I take delight in sparking memories for those who were fortunate enough to have experienced Elvis and his live performances. Equally rewarding is to introduce Elvis, through my shows, to a new generation of fans. In November of 2004 I had the honor and privilege to perform with the Grammy Nominated Stamps Quartet. It was a thrill of a life time to be on the same stage with the group that worked with Elvis from 1971 until Elvis death in 1977. Then the biggest honor came in April of 2005, I was asked to sing The National Anthem at The Scope Arena in Norfolk, VA. For The Relay for Life. I was blessed again in April 2006 with the honor of singing The National Anthem at the Verizon Wireless/Va Beach Amphitheater. Some of my other achievements include, August 2007 I was Acknowledged by Elvis Presley Enterprises by being one of twenty four in the World that competed in the First ever Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, Third place in 2004 competition at the “Viva Elvis Festival” in Va Beach and Third in 2005 in the Non-Professional Division at Dewey Beach Delaware as part of the “Images of The King Contest”, 2008 second place in the Ultimate Elvis tribute Artist contest held in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Take care, thank you for stopping by and I look forward to bringing "Elvis" to you…
